After the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Cincinnati Reds in their wild card playoff match-up, 6-2, it seemed like the whole of Steel City got lit up. After all, it was the first playoff appearance for the Pirates -- not to mention their first winning season -- since 1992, and the city's other sports teams, including the Steelers, haven't given residents much to cheer about. So when something good actually happens, crazy things follow suit. Consider the case of a man named Dean Pasztor, from Shadyside, Ohio, who went up the Roberto Clemente Bridge across PNC Park and jumped 78 feet into the icy-cold water to the cheers of fans, which, it appeared, sounded as inebriated as he was.

Yahoo! Sports described it as giving one's self a Gatorade shower, only the Gatorade is God-given and the dunking goes one for 78 feet. The chill effect only gets worse once the viewer realises that Pasztor was wearing only boxer briefs the whole time:

Observers pointed out that the Allegheny River, where Pasztor made his leap of faith, is not exactly the cleanest river in America. But jumping off a bridge seems nothing but unnatural in Pittsburgh, which is known for its three rivers and 446 bridges. Here's hoping that an Allegheny River dunking session, complete with gangplanks, doesn't become a Pittsburgh Pirates tradition.
