A one-year-old boy is in critical condition while seven others were injured Tuesday when gunfire erupted during the filming of a rap music video in Oakland, California.

Hiram Lawrence had to be operated on at the Children's Hospital Oakland. The other injured victims were a 24-year-old woman and five males ages 14 to 26, according to the Oakland Police Department.

The music video of rapper Kafani was being filmed in the parking lot of the State Market Liquors located in the 700 block of Willow Street when an argument broke out and the shooting followed past 6 p.m.

Three men in gray hooded sweatshirts opened fire on the group and Kafani's promo van at the parking lot. People at the parking lot returned fire. When the shooting subsided, the van was riddled with bullet holes and some 50 shell casings littered the parking lot.

Police said Kafani was present during the incident but the rapper denied this on a tweet. In the Twitter message following the violent incident, Kafani said his cousin was the one shot and his son.

Police are still investigating who were involved in the argument and shooting. Three teens and a man in his 30s who fled on a Buick after the shooting is being sought.

Kafani is a rising rapper who promotes his own music on the Internet. His fans are mostly from the Bay Area.
In his website, Kafani admitted serving time in prison for robbery and it was there that he started his rap group in 2000.
