The tug-of-war between Lionsgate and 20th Century Fox is over with the latter winning it in the end. As a result, lead actor Taron Egerton is set to shoot “Kingsman 2” in April 2016, while “Robin Hood” reboot will begin its production once the actor becomes available to film it, probably in summer 2016.

Matthew Vaughn, who is directing the sequel along with co-producing it, exercised his option when it came to Egerton’s contract, which pushed ahead the production date of Lionsgate’s “Robin Hood: Origin,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Prior to signing with Lionsgate, Egerton already had an existing contract with FOX to act in the future installments of “Kingsman” franchise.

Meanwhile, “Robin Hood: Origins” is said to be in pre-production phase, while “Kingsman 2” does not yet have a script. The former was originally set to start filming in February next year, but now the production crew will have to wait until “Kingsman 2” wraps up its filming.

When Vaughn refused to budge on Egerton or change the filming date, it looked like the actor may not be able to do “Robin Hood” as the studio could have opted to recast the role. However, as it looks now, Lionsgate is willing to halt the project temporarily and wait for Egerton to finish “Kingsman 2” first.

Egerton has been shot to prominence following the blockbuster performance of “Kingsman: The Secret Service." Since then, the actor has been busy booking roles left and right. He recently finished filming “Legend” with Tom Hardy and Emily Browning. He is playing the lead character in “Eddie the Eagle," a biopic of Eddie Edwards, the first ever ski jumper to represent Great Britain in the Olympics.

Egerton plays the role of Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin, a young recruit brought by Harry Hart (Colin Firth) to the secret spy organisation, “Kingsman: The Secret Service.”
