A doctor from New South Wales was sentenced to eight months imprisonment by a Sydney court after he was found guilty of managing corporations while his license to manage was still suspended.

Dr Pierre Lemont, previously known as Pierre Tabar, of Campsie, New South Wales, was convicted by Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court and fully suspended upon him entering into a 20-month good behaviour bond.

The court found Dr. Lemont guilty of two counts of managing corporations while disqualified

An investigation made by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) found that Dr Lemont acted as a director of two companies, Lemont Family Import & Export Pty Ltd and Riviera Constructions & Investments Pty Ltd, within five years of his release from prison for fraud.

The companies was involved in a range of enterprises including the development of a large island resort in Palau, near Guam.

The court ordered that Dr Lemont report to Campsie Police Station within seven days to be fingerprinted and photographed.

The matter was prosecuted by the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.
