Study says iPad owners are unkind and selfish
Respondents divided into iPad owners and critics
MyType, a consumer research firm, says that iPad owners are six times more likely to be highly educated and wealthy people aged 30-50 years olds who value power and achievement. The findings, which were reached through a survey of 20,000 people, also said that iPad owners are unkind and selfish.
The study has the title "Prevalence of iPad Owners and Critics by Psychographic Segment." The survey divided respondents into "iPad Owners" and "iPad Critics."
Tim Koelkebeck, MyType's spokesman, said in the company's blog that 96 percent of people who don't own an iPad are generally independent-minded young people who "shun conformity." He also said that such people are listed under "geeks."
The survey finds that in the average population, three percent are iPad owners compared to 11 percent critics. The survey claims that among "independent geeks", four percent would own an iPad while 33 percent would be critics.
The reasearch also claims Apple is the brand of choice for "selfish elites." Only four per cent of respondents criticized the iPad, while 18 per cent owned or planned to buy one.
Koelbeck adds that factors that prevent elites from purchasing an iPad include the machine's high price tag and the need, or the lack thereof, for another device.
