“Street Fighter V” is scheduled to release in the first quarter of 2016 and things are looking good for the popular fighting series. So far, there are 16 confirmed characters for the launch day version of the game but DLC characters are planned as well. Capcom is yet to say when the DLC characters will become available and says that they may take a while as the developer is still on the development stage for them.

In an interview with Japanese gaming website 4Gamer via WCCFtech, “Street Fighter V” producer Koichi Sugiyama revealed a few more details regarding the upcoming DLC characters of the next iteration of the fighting game. Sugiyama talked a little about the first set of DLC characters, particularly about Alex, Guile, Balrog, Ibuki, Juri and Urien.

Sugiyama notes that the characters are still in the early stages of development and that there isn’t much to say about the characters for now. Apparently, all DLC characters are still in the conceptual stages.

Since they are still in the early stages, it is likely that Capcom has just some rough drafts for the character designs, moves list and others. A “Street Fighter V” development team member named Woshige says that he already has a few ideas so Capcom could release more information on the DLC characters soon.

Cinema Blend adds that Capcom could release the DLC characters one at a time instead of in one batch. More specifically, the fighters will be added every two months but the order of their release is yet to be revealed. What this means is that players will be treated to a year’s worth of DLC.

Capcom is taking a different approach with the DLC characters as it is now requiring players to spend actual money to unlock them. Players can opt to spend on in-game currency called Fight Money to unlock the extra characters. To gain Fight Money, players simply have to battle online or compete daily challenges.
