“Star Wars: Episode 9” may be getting a new female warrior. Actor Keri Russell is reportedly in talks to join the film, and her character is said to be involved in some of the action sequences. Meanwhile, details of a filming location of the movie have surfaced online.

According to a report by Entertainment Weekly, Russell is currently in the advance stages of negotiations to join the upcoming JJ Abrams film. After Captain Phasma’s (Gwendoline Christie) possible exit, this new character will be another addition of a strong female character in the franchise.

According to Variety, the character that Russell is being considered for will be involved in some “action-heavy fight scenes.” Details about the character, including whether she will be fighting for the First Order or the Resistance, are being kept under wraps at the moment. More details may be released when the actress is confirmed as a cast member.

Russell is not new to playing action-heavy characters. She has been a part of films like “Mission: Impossible 3” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.” It will be interesting to see what new role show will be playing in the upcoming film. Abrams and Russell have worked together before in “Felicity” TV series and “Mission: Impossible” movie.

Meanwhile, MakingStarWars has reported that some of the filming of the upcoming movie will take place in sheds, which are large hanger-like structures that were previously used for “Rogue One.” The report notes that Abrams may be using the sheds to film scenes related to a Rebel base.

Will the Resistance forces use an abandoned base that once belonged to the Rebels? Such a scenario does present an opportunity to introduce a nostalgic moment for the fans of the original trilogy.

Filming is yet to begin for “Star Wars: Episode 9,” and the cast members are currently undergoing physical training in order to play their respective characters.
