There may be new storylines related to Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) that may be explored in “Star Wars: Episode 9.” The “Last Jedi” novel has teased exciting details relating to the character, which opens the door to the introduction of new ones. The following article contains spoilers from the novel and potential spoilers from the upcoming movie.

According to a report by Dork Side of the Force, someone with an advanced copy of the official “Last Jedi” novel has teased that the backstory of Luke Skywalker shows the character’s interest in the opposite sex. This means it is quite possible that the Jedi Master may have had a love interest, or even a wife, at one point in time.

Luke will be seen back in Tatooine in the novel. The report suggests the possibility that the character chose his home planet to settle down for a while, and that his wife may have also helped him start the Jedi Order.

In the movies, the Jedi Order is no more, thanks to the rise of Ben Solo (Adam Driver) as Kylo Ren. The character's turning to the Dark Side may have forced him to kill Luke’s wife that fateful night, which would have left a deep scar on the Jedi Master’s heart when it comes to restarting the order.

Luke is no more, but he may appear as a Force Ghost in the upcoming film. The movie may also explore important elements of his backstory, which may be used to inspire and guide Rey (Daisy Ridley) in her fight against the First Order.

“Star Wars: Episode 9” may also help set up the next trilogy. There may be new characters that will be introduced to carry on the fight for justice in the galaxy. Will Luke’s son be the next hero?
