'Star Wars: Episode 7' character guide: Get to know the members of 'The Resistance'

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is set to be out in theatres on Dec. 18. Fans have been trying to get more details about the characters and story before the official release.

Screen Rant reveals that after Emperor Palpatine and the second Death Star were defeated, the Resistance was able to cause major damage to the Empire, although the war is not yet over, as many believed.

In “Aftermath,” the prequel novel to “The Force Awakens,” Admiral Ackbar told the Rebel Alliance that while the Empire’s weapon may have been destroyed, the Empire itself is still very much existent.

“Its oppressive hand closes around the throats of good, free-thinking people across the galaxy, from the Coruscant Core to the farthest systems in the Outer Rim. We must remember that our fight continues. Our rebellion is over. But the war … the war is just beginning,” Admiral Ackbar said.

To continue the war, the Rebel Alliance transformed into the Resistance. After 30 years, the Resistance has produced several heroes, state-of-the-art vehicles and equipment as well as strong new alliances.

Ello Asty: An X-wing starfighter pilot for the Resistance; although highly skilled, Ello tends to be reckless at times.

PZ-4CO : Usually present in base control rooms of the Resistance, providing communications support and tactical information during important missions.

B-U4D (Buford): A strong and industrious member of the ground crew that ensures that the Resistance starfighters are always ready for combat and fueled

Goss Toowers: Part of the reliable technical crew that offers mechanical support to the fleet of starfighters of the Resistance

Finn: A former member of The First Order, writes Cinema Blend. However, he abandoned his status as a Stormtrooper and met Rey in the remote world of Jakku. He finally decided to join The Resistance. There are reports that Finn will ultimately become a Jedi warrior.

Rey: A strong-willed fighter who spent most of her time in Jakku. She joined The Resistance and was a member before Finn.

Poe Dameron: A skilled X-wing squadron leader

BB-8: An astromech droid that seems to be rto Poe Dameron

So far, it has been reported that Rey will be played by Daisy Ridley (“Lifesaver,” “Blue Season”), Finn by John Boyega (“Imperial Dreams”) and Poe by Oscar Isaac (“Inside Llewyn Davis,” “Ex Machina”), according to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb).
