Sony Mobile continues the Android Open Source Project or AOSP porting on several Xperia devices eligible for Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Sony Xperia Z1, Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 are now in beta testing as preparation for the 2015 release of the new firmware version.

Android 5.0 Lollipop AOSP And Beta Testing On Three Sony Xperia Flagship Smartphones

Sony Mobile is currently testing the beta version of Android Open Source Project or AOSP Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware on Xperia Z1, Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3. These flagship smartphones of the Xperia Z Series are all eligible to Android 5.0 Lollipop from the company's previous announcement and expected receive the new software by early next year.

"We know there's probably a few of you itching to get AOSP 5.0 running on unlocked Xperia devices, so we're working to provide updated versions of the necessary binary files as soon as we can," blog post from Sony Mobile directly to the Developer World for the latest files.

In addition to Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z2 running AOSP 5.0 Lollipop version, Sony Mobile collaborated recently with Three Sweden and launched the 3Beta program to allow selected Sony fans to test drive Android 5.0 Lollipop on both Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact. Sony and Three are simply looking for subscribers to provide necessary feedback on the test version of Android 5.0 before the official release rolls out on 2015.

Sony Mobile will bring the Android 5.0 Lollipop software to the entire Xperia Z Series covering all models from 2013 up to the latest. It includes Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1s, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet.
