Fox has reportedly shortlisted six actresses for the female lead in "Deadpool." These candidates include Taylor Shilling ("Orange Is The New Black"), Morena Baccarin ("Homeland"), Sarah Greene ("Vikings"), Jessica De Gouw ("Arrow"), Crystal Reed ("Teen Wolf') and Rebecca Rittenhouse ("Red Band Society"). According to a report, Sarah Greene would be the "best" choice for the part since she would help bring out Ryan Reynold's performance as Deadpool.

According to Cinema Blend writer Mike Reyes, Sarah Greene may not be popularly known for her role in History Channel's "Vikings," but she is said to be a "multifaceted performer." She has not only done acting in movies but also has performances on stage. Greene has also lent her singing voice in the popular game "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag." Reyes said she can be cast for the female lead in "Deadpool" under a budget since she is a newcomer. The actress may not have many movies under her name, but her role in "The Guard" is said to be the basis why she can work well with Ryan Reynolds in "Deadpool."

In "The Guard," Sarah Greene played the role of a prostitute and her acting opposite Brendan Gleeson ("Star Wars: The Force Awakens") reportedly brought out her "comedic timing and pushing the boundaries." Reyes writes, "Both qualities could help if Deadpool gets its R-rating, as well as bring out only the best in Ryan Reynolds' performance.”

No word yet on which female character will be portrayed. According to the Deadpool Wiki, the character has met eight women over the years including Domino, Copycat, Lady Deadpool, Black Widow, Outlaw, Squirrel Girl, Anaconda and Death. Cinema Blend readers add it could either be Siren, Copycat or Domino as the female lead in the movie.

Deadline initially broke the story regarding the casting. According to the site, the six actresses have already secured a test deal with 29th Century Fox.

"Deadpool" is set for a February 2016 release date with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick as scriptwriters and Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner as producers. Production for the movie will reportedly start this March under the working title revealed by Comicbook as "Wham!"
