Samsung recently started rolling-out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for its devices. Its decision to launch the new software comes a bit ahead of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow release date.

Different smartphone models from the Korean tech giant have already gotten the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. Tech Times pointed out the devices that so far have the latest update are Verizon's Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and Galaxy Tab 4 8.0.

Prior to Verizon Wireless, Sprint also rolled-out the update for its version of the Galaxy Note. Other carriers in the United States are expected to follow suit pretty soon. Australian carriers Optus and Telstra have already said they’ll release the update to their Galaxy Note 4 version at an unspecified date in October.

The Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 was released for public use last April while the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 was launched last January. When these devices came out, both were already running on Android 4.4 KitKat. It would appear they’ve made the ultimate jump, updating from Android 4.4 KitKat to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

Since the update will be rolled via OTA or over the air, the tablet devices will just get a prompt that will tell its users to begin software installation. Clients using the aforementioned devices are advised to visit their corresponding support pages. Details about how the software update will affect the units have been posted on Verizon Wireless' page for Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and Galaxy Tab 4 8.0.

Google launched Android 6.0 Marshmallow late last month, alongside its next generation Nexus devices. These devices will also come out of the box already pre-installed with the latest Android software.
