The PS4 was recently introduced to the 4.50 system update that included PS4's 4.50 network problem. It increases wireless network lag, which does not make players happy.

While Sony is looking at the cause of the PS4’s 4.50 network problem, there are many PS4 users looking for a work around it. The issue leads users who like to play online games to not play properly due to the lag. This wireless network connection only starts when players upgraded to the new 4.50 system. However, there is a silver lining as players who are experiencing this problem can use several ways to fix this problem temporarily.

PS4's 4.50 network problem fix

The best way to fix this problem is accessing the wireless router connected to the PS4. This involves going into the wireless router's internal settings. Depending on the router one is using, they would have to access it through the IP address. Most routers have an IP address of 192.168.1.1. However, other routers may have different ones so it is best to check the manufacturer’s manual or the wireless router itself.

Once users know the IP address to access the wireless router, it would have to be typed into an address bar of a web browser, like Google Chrome, Safari or Firefox. A prompt would pop up to ask for a username and password. If there weren’t any passwords set up, it may just be blank. Once one has gained access to the router, users will have to change the wireless router’s signal support to B/G instead of B/G/N. This may cause the mode of the router to switch to a lower Mbps output like 54Mbps.

According to a Kotaku writer, this fix was able to allow him to connect to an online game that is played on the PS4. However, some players in a forum have not been able to access their wireless router. On the other hand, the fix simply did not change the status of the poor connection on their PS4. If this fix fails, it is suggested the PS4 should just be connected via cable until Sony fixes the problem.

In the PlayStation forum, a user with the handle Dead-Sync has said that not all users are affected by the network problem from the 4.50 system update. However, there are still a number of people who reported the problem in the forum. According to Dead-Sync, he has taken action to report the problem to the support staff of Sony. Many hope that the problem will be fixed soon.
