Ever since Sony introduced the notion of Remote Play with the PS4, the company has been touting the PS Vita as a way to bring your next-gen PS4 games with you while on the go.

After that, fans have started asking questions, from whether the PS Vita can be a second controller for the PS4 (which Sony Worldwide boss Shuhei Yoshida already said no to in a tweet on his official account) to the possibility of all the games having this kind of Remote Play system (the latest word about that is that not all games are slated for the feature as of yet).

This time, Sony may really be pushing its PS Vita campaign with the next-gen movement, as the latest rumours surrounding the console is that there may be a hardware bundle coming out at Gamescom, and this time bearing the PS4 and the PS Vita in one for only $500.

Videogamer reports that this rumour first came from an anonymous tipper from Inside Gaming Daily, wherein the bundle is said to be up for release at the end of the year.

As usual, nothing is set in stone until Sony announces the bundle as an official offering for the next-gen, but if the rumours are true, having the two devices in one set can pave the way for great savings.

For the meantime, the PS4 basic bundle comes with the PS4 box, the headset, and one piece of DualShock 4 wireless controller, which sells for $399.

Preorder the PS4 from these retailers

If you still haven't preordered the PS4 until now, you may be happy to know that there are still retailers who are taking preorders for the console.

GameRevolution provides a list of retailers that still have open preorders, but you can be sure that the better deals won't last for long.

Amazon is still accepting Launch Day bundles for you to get the PS4 on the first day and come with games and the PS Plus subscription for multiplayer modes. There are also Standard Edition bundles, though there's no assurance that it will arrive at launch.

GameStop still offers bundles, but don't expect PS4 console-only-you'd have to get it with Knack, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, Madden NFL 25, DriveClub or Killzone: Shadow Fall, all of which are available at $459.98.

Best Buy offers individual buys for the PS4 system, the DualShock 4 controller, the PS4 Eye camera, the PS Plus 3-month subscription card, and a PS4 bundle worth $499.97, which includes Killzone: Shadow Fall and the PS Plus 3-month subscription card.

Lastly, there's also WAlmart, where you can choose to only get the console for its base price or a bundle that features a second DualShock 4 controller and the PS4 Eye camera all for $576.96.

No cross-play, but yes to character transfer for PlanetSide 2?

Sony has already confirmed that cross-play for PlanetSide 2 players for PC and PS4 is not possible, and has given the reason behind the move.

According to an interview reported by VG 24/7, the developers have revealed that the problem lies with syncing servers, wherein the procedures for patches and updates will not be the same for PC and the PS4, hence the hard time to play with people who have different gaming devices.

But this doesn't mean that cross-play will totally affect your gameplay, as character transfers is now the next issue that developers are trying to look into.

"We're also talking about having character portability, so a PC character, you could transfer it to PlayStation 4, and then back," said Matt Higby, creative director of the game, in an interview quoted by VG 24/7. "The character format's the same on both, it's just purely a matter of the server updates."

Eurogamer adds that, apart from this development in the PC and PS4, there is also the port companion for the iOS and Android, as well as a possible PS Vita functionality.

"We have iOS and Android apps right now that have some pretty cool functionality that allows you to see the map changing in real time, allows you to use VOIP via the application, so all these are totally fair game for us to [develop a Vita app]," said Higby to Eurogamer.

"I can't really commit to it [but] it's one of the things that we've definitely talked about and are excited about. I think the Vita's a pretty cool piece of hardware."

What do you think of the addition of the PS Vita game functionality and character transfers to the game?
