There have been a number of new Pokemon titles released in time for the commemoration of the franchise’s 20th anniversary. Even though The Pokemon Company has yet to announce the new main game follow up for 2014’s “Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire,” a bevy of new games are making waves for Pokemon fans.

One such title is the newly unveiled “Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo,” also known as “Meitantei Pikachu: Shin Konbi Tanjyou” in Japan. As the title suggests, the game sees Pikachu with the Sherlock Holmes cap and a fiercer expression from his other cutesy persona. This new Pikachu speaks more than his usual “Pika!” catchphrase. What’s more, it drinks coffee as well.

The over a minute-long teaser, seen below, what fans are also starting to notice, is the very deep and hardboiled voice that Pikachu has. He speaks like a hardened detective, fitting of the title, it is far from the usual voice that fans have come to know.

Gone is the cute Pikachu voiced by Japanese voice actress Ikue Otani. Fans are even starting to voice out their opinion of Pikachu’s new persona, and Kotaku reported that a lot of the fans are freaked out about the new voice. To date, the developer has not yet announced a planned release for the Western region. It will come to Japan on Feb. 3.

Even though a launch outside Japan is not yet definite, there are some new Legendary Pokemon that fans can catch for the more recent titles, “Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire” and “Pokemon X and Y.” Polygon reported that there are 11 Pokemon all in all, obtained via either GameStop or the Nintendo Network. Every month starting March, there will be one Pokemon up for grabs, and this will be kicked off by Mew on February. Each Pokemon will be available from the 1st to the 24th of the month. Except for February, May, August and November, all other distributions will be made via the Nintendo Network.

Other Pokemon up for grabs are Celebi, Jirachi, Manaphy, Darkrai, Arceus, Genesect, Keldeo and Meloetta. What’s even better is that all of the Pokemon that will be distributed within this promotion will already be leveled up to 100.
