'Outlander' Season 3: Producer tears up after watching premiere episode
Co-executive Producer Maril Davis had tears in her eyes after watching a rough cut of the premiere episode of “Outlander” Season 3. Answering fan questions, she teased some details about what to expect next.
Davis took time out of her busy schedule to chat with fans online. When a fan asked if she ever cried on set, she said she didn’t, but did tear up after watching the rough cut of the premiere episode of the upcoming season.
The most exciting part of the show this time around for Davis is the Print Shop and the scenes on the ship. She also said that the start of the season is “fab.” When asked to tease something about the Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) reunion; she said that it is going to be “great.”
One of the fans asked Davis to comment on the recent controversy of Geneva and Jamie’s sex scene in the next season that few people considered “rape.” The fans were concerned about “Outlander” Season 3 showing Heughan’s character in poor light. The producer explained to the fans that the scene in the book doesn’t “blacken” the character of the Scottish warrior. She also added that the show will be “close to the books.”
The next season will have 13 episodes, Davis confirmed. The production is almost half way through at the moment. Once the filming of the scenes in Scotland is complete; the cast and crew will move to South Africa to shoot the Caribbean scenes.
One of the fans wanted to know why they were filming in South Africa. Davis explained that they have the infrastructure and the ships they need already built and ready there. And the look of these sets is apparently just right for the show.
The producers are already gearing up for the promotion of “Outlander” Season 3. Davis is not sure when the first trailer will be released, but said that they recently completed the first publicity shoot.
