‘Outlander’ season 3: New trailer break down

The long-awaited trailer of “Outlander” season 3 has been released online. Most of the scenes in the video are from the first half of the new season, which is right up to the time when Claire (Caitriona Balfe) goes back through the magical stones at Craigh Na Dun. Here’s a scene-by-scene break down of the video.

“The key to Claire’s future lies in finding her way back to the past,” the caption of the post reads. The video begins with Claire waking up in a hospital and Frank (Tobias Menzies) showing her their daughter.

Frank promises Claire that everything will be alright, but that will not be the case. The Sassenach is lost in her own world, which starts to affect her relationship with her husband. She doesn’t let anyone into her world, resulting to some emotionally charged scenes.

Fans get a glimpse of the new life of the couple in Boston. Claire sees Jamie (Sam Heughan) in their daughter. The trailer shows that while the Sassenach is suffering, so too is Frank. One of the scenes shows the character simply waiting for sunrise by looking at the clock.

While the couple attempt to sort things out, Brianna is growing quickly. She’s good in her studies and will go on to finish graduating. Both Frank and Claire are there to support their daughter.

Frank waits for Claire to come back from the past and focus on their life in the present. That day may never come.

In the flash forward, in which Claire and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) have met Roger (Richard Rankin), the trio will work hard to figure out what happened to Jamie after the Battle of Culloden. Fans also get a few shots of the battle in the new trailer.

Meanwhile, Jamie goes back to Lallybroch and Jenny (Laura Donnelly) in Scotland. He is arrested by British soldiers and is taken to prison. There may also be another woman in his life. Viewers get to see David Berry as Lord John Grey and also hear him speak in a British accent. There is a scene of what appears to be a prison break.

Claire is training to be a doctor in “Outlander” season 3. Fans get to see her at the operation table in the trailer, as well as a first look at Wil Johnson as Joe Abernathy, a friend of Claire in medical school.
