Wide receiver Randall Cobb will be re-joining the Green Bay Packers for the next four seasons signing a $40 million with the team. Cobb, who will be playing his fifth year in the National Football League, or NFL, has played the last four seasons with the Packers and was the team’s second leading receiver.

Adam Schefter, the NFL Insider for ESPN.com reported the deal on Sunday confirming that Cobb’s deal will be similar to that of Jordy Nelson, the Packers’ number one wide receiver. The 29 year old Nelson signed a $39.05 million deal with Green Bay in 2014. The league’s official Twitter account also confirmed the deal.

Cobb and Nelson are the Packers main receivers and top targets of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is considered one of the elite QBs in the league. Nelson had 1,519 receiving yards on 98 catches and Cobb had 1,287 receiving yards on 91 catches in the 2014 regular season. Rodgers, Cobb and Nelson were crucial in the Packers’ successful regular season run. The team won the NFC North division title after a 12-4 record and qualified for the postseason where they beat the Dallas Cowboys, 26-21 in the divisional round match-up but lost to the Seattle Seahawks, 28-22 in overtime in the conference championship.

Cobb, in his fourth year in the league, had career highs of receiving yards and catches in 2014 with an average of 14.1 yards per catch. He had a total of 12 touchdowns in the regular season and had 178 receiving yards on 15 catches with a touchdown in the postseason.

Cobb’s return to the Packers was lauded by most NFL observers after he reportedly turned down more money from other teams.
