After an unidentified racial slur slipped his mouth during an interview, Jeremy Clements has been declared suspended indefinitely.

Jeremy Clements, a NASCAR Nationwide Series driver allegedly made racial comments when he was interviewed at the Daytona International Speedway. The slip, that is either intended or not has cost the driver dearly by being suspended from driving indefinitely.

According to ESPN's David Newton, NASCAR officials has refused to tackle the reason for Clements' suspension but said that it was because of an "intolerable and insensitive remark."

"NASCAR officials would not verify or discuss what Clements said to earn the suspension, only that it was an 'intolerable and insensitive remark' and violated the sanctioning body's Code of Conduct for actions detrimental to stock car racing," the report said.

As said by Heather Tucker of USA Today, Jeremy Clements has violated the code of conduct that was mentioned by Newton. A code under sections 7-5 and 12-1 states that actions of drivers are detrimental to stock car racing.

Meanwhile, Clements agreed for an interview to defend himself. He said on ESPN that the comments were for an MTV reporter and that clip was unrecorded.

"When you say 'racial' remark, it wasn't used to describe anybody or anything. So that's all I'm going to say to that. And it really wasn't. I was describing racing, and the word I used was incorrect and I shouldn't have said it. It shouldn't be used at all," Clements said.

"And even after I said what I said, they still kept asking me questions. It didn't seem like it was a big deal at all. I didn't even think twice about it, like, after. I know I shouldn't have said it. Even when I did say it, I shouldn't have said it. But I didn't think it was going to be a big deal," he added.
