To make a family interact with each other and spend more time together instead of engaging all the time with gadgets, a California based company Fuhu has come up with a novel idea of a 20 to 24 inches Nabi Big Tab HD. This tablet can be laid on the floor, table or bed. Designed for the family, the tab offers all sorts of classic board games and different software that will make both children and parents to be together.

The company specializes in educational applications and tablets for children. The executives in Fuhu said that they had experienced each family member engrossed in his or her own personal gadget. The large tab could solve this problem.

The company's founding President Robb Fujioka said "We're trying to find a product that enhances collaboration and socialization".

Fuhu made an announcement that the Nabi Big Tab HD will go on sale in the United States for $449 for a smaller version and $549 for a larger version.

The "world's biggest Android tablet made for sharing" as coined by Fuhu's Chief Executive Jim Mitchell said that the tab will be portable than consoles and better than competing tablets.

In the United States alone 50 per cent of the adults own a tablet. Skeptics are of the opinion that this might leave consumers a very little interest in the tab and it could attract only a particular group of people.

About 2 million, 11 inch plus tabs are expected to be shipped to North America this year in comparison to nearly 40 million shipments of 7 to 8 inch tablets, according to NPD DisplaySearch. Analysts said that due to the large size and weight of the tablet it will drain battery life. To combat this problem a bigger tab is made into a computer.

Fuhu is well known for its Nabi Tablets and the Nabi Dream Tab that is created in partnership with DreamWorks Animation.

Last year, they generated $ 200 million by selling 1.5 million of their android powered device. This year alone they aim to sell 300,000 to 500,000 of the Big Tabs.

Manufacturers of the tablet like Samsung, Google and Apple are focusing on making their devices slimmer and faster.

According to Fujioka 200 million tablets were sold worldwide in 2013. Parents were disappointed that the tabs they purchased did not suit the needs of the family and were expensive. The Big Tab definitely has a market.

The Big Tab will foster more family interactions. The tablet is loaded with board games like Candyland, Chess, air hockey and more than 20 games that are designed for two or more players for "Family Game Nights". Videos and book drives for "Family Movie Night and Story Time" experience.

Drawing, animation and movie making are some of the app along with content that come from Disney and Cartoon Network.
