Mysterious delay to New Zealand iPhone 4 launch
Vodafone offers no explanation for delay
The New Zealand release of the iPhone 4 has been delayed without explanation, leaving people who lined up overnight to purchase the smartphone disappointed. The phone was supposed to go on sale Friday morning. However, in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Paul Brislen, Vodafone's spokesman, says that the iPhone 4 would be available in select branches by midday. He adds that stocks for the smartphone is limited.
It is not known when Vodafone would receive more units of the iPhone 4. The company is also keeping mum on what caused the delay.
It is not clear if the iPhone 4 would be available later today through the Apple Web site. Currently, the Apple site has the phone listed as "coming soon."
The article from the Sydney Morning Herald cited a source from Vodafone who said that that the telecommunications company and Apple were "banging heads" over the smartphone.
