MSI GS40 Phantom gaming laptop less than an inch thick, packs top of the line specs

Gaming laptops are known for powerful specs at the cost of a bulky look and feel. But this is all about to change with MSI’s newest technological innovation, the GS40 Phantom, dubbed as the thinnest gaming laptop to date.
The GS40 Phantom is less than an inch thick (just 0.87 inch in width, to be exact). But it’s not just all about the looks. The laptop also has good hardware under the hood tailored to run games smoothly. The GS40 comes with an Intel i7 6700 HQ Skylake CPU with a clock speed of 2.6 GHz. The Intel processor is a quad core chip, as listed in the Intel website. This means that the processor consists of 4 cores with each core having Hyper-thread support allows each core to work with two tasks at the same time.
Also, the processor has a turbo boost frequency of 3.5 GHz. For people not familiar with what turbo boost is, the technology allows the processor to run over its base frequency to balance the workload and increase performance when there is a need for it.
The laptop comes bundled with 16 GB that run at 2133 MHz, reported PCGamer. There are two slots present that support a maximum memory of 32GB. It includes the Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M that comes with 3GB of GDDR5 VRAM to run the most demanding games smoothly. From the storage aspect, the gaming laptop comes with a SSD and Hard disk combo. It includes a 2.5 inch 1TB standard hard drive coupled with a 128GB PCIe SSD.
The GS40 Phantom includes Dynaudio Speakers. The laptop offers virtual 7.1 surround sound and 3D in high definition and also includes digital to analog conversion technology from ESS. It also includes an HDMI display, a mini display port. It includes one USB 3.1 Type C port and two USB 3.0 ports. The Type C port can support up to two 4K displays.
The laptop has a 14 inch Full HD display. It sports a native resolution of 1920 x1080 and includes wide viewing angle IPS technology. The laptop comes with Windows 10 Home or Pro edition. The laptop weighs around 1.6 kg (3.5 pounds) and retails in the market for US$1,600 (approx. AU$2,214).
