Despite being a week away from a wide release, copies of NetherRealm’s upcoming fighter, “Mortal Kombat X” have apparently leaked into the wild. Gamers have reported getting their hands on the title and have been prompted to upgrade to Version 1.01, revealing details of the patch in the process.

As noted by VG24/7, fans have taken to Reddit to show off their copies of the game and some have even tried streaming gameplay on Twitch, though the service has been quick to take those streams down. Reports indicate that the PlayStation 4 version of the patch weighs in at around 1.8GB. Bringing “Mortal Kombat X” up to Version 1.01 improves online gameplay and squashes bugs, though some players have reported that payouts from winning matches have also been reduced. The full patch notes for the day-one patch include:

- Improved online stability

- Multiplayer invite improvements

- Gameplay fixes and balancing

- Localised language fixes

- Bug fixes

The news regarding enhanced Netcode confirms recent comments made by “MK” co-creator, Ed Boon, which were picked up by Gamespot. The comments were made by Boon during an interview with YouTube celebrity gamer, Angry Joe.

“Oh yeah, it's going to be improved over ‘MK9,’ certainly even improved over ‘Injustice.’ We really are focusing a lot," he said.

Also set to be improved is the general messaging and feedback provided during online encounters in “MKX,” where “MK9” offered a generic “Connection Lost” message, the sequel will provide more detailed information on exactly what has gone wrong. Boon also noted that back-end improvements meant that players with good connections are now more likely to be matched with other players with good connections, ensuring smoother gameplay.

With its April release fast approaching and just about all of its characters revealed, you’d be forgiven for thinking “Mortal Kombat X” had no more secrets in store, but you’d be wrong. A new trailer on the Canal Gameplay YouTube page shows off Cassie Cage’s alternate fatality. The move sees Cassie slice off the jaw of defeated opponents, before sidling up to them and snapping a quick selfie. She then uploads the pic to an in-game version of Facebook, where fans comment eagerly on the gory selfie.
