Before the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 had arrived, there were heavy speculations that the company was also working on a mini edition of the tablet called Surface Mini. At that time, the Surface Mini was also rumoured to come out alongside the Surface Pro 3 device, but that did not come true.

GforGames that even Microsoft had aimed to release the Surface Mini with Surface Pro 3 but at the last moment it decided to delay the arrival of the tablet. Fresh speculations from Chinese blog UDN reveal that the Microsoft Surface Mini release date is slated for this month. However, it is yet to be confirmed by Microsoft.

The popularity of Surface Pro 3 which was released in June this year is growing steadily. According to The Verge, in the previous year, the Surface revenue was $400 million but in the present year, the revenue has skyrocketed to $908 million this quarter.

The exact reason for stalling the arrival of Surface Mini is not known yet. According to GforGames, the probable reason may be that Microsoft felt that Mini edition of Surface tablet was not suited for the audience. Also, Microsoft may have wanted to fully concentrate on marketing and generating revenue from Surface Pro 3. Now that the sales of Pro 3 slate has helped in raising the revenue from the Surface business, the source from China claims that the company will officially unveil the Surface Mini at the end of this month.

Nothing much is known on the Surface Mini specifications except for the fact that it will either come with an 8-inch or 10.1-inch display screen. The tablet is also speculated to feature Windows 10 OS. Another interesting rumour that is gradually swirling up is that soon after the arrival of Surface Mini tablet, Microsoft will ready itself to launch the Surface Pro 4 slate powered with the Windows 10.

The Chinese source also claims that since the Surface Mini and the Surface Pro 4 tablets will come to the market with Windows 10 onboard, after their imminent announcement both the tablets will be available for purchase by the middle of the coming year. However, GforGames feels that if the Surface Mini is slated for getting unleashed within this month; it would be probably featuring the Windows 8 OS. Again, Microsoft has not confirmed anything on the arrival of Surface Mini. If the tablet is really going to unveil in this month, accurate information from Microsoft will soon start rolling out.
