It does not come as a surprise that Marvel's tiniest hero, Ant-Man, is getting a sequel. For the second time, he will return with Wasp on July 6, 2016 in the sequel, titled “Ant-Man and the Wasp." The release date of "Ant-Man" sequel, however, has messed up the original release schedule of "Black Panther" and "Captain Marvel."

Marvel’s "Black Panther," which was previously slated to release in July 2018, will now release on Feb. 16, 2018, and "Captain Marvel" will now open on March 8, 2019, instead of Oct. 2018.

This change in the release schedule comes after Marvel Studios struck a deal with Sony to include Spiderman in the Marvel cinematic universe, according to reports. Marvel Studios had to adjust the production schedules of the films in Phase 3. This is the second time that the release schedule has changed.

Marvel's press release has also teased three more upcoming films slated to release on May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020 and Nov. 06, 2020. Marvel has yet to issue a statement or reveal details about these upcoming films.

Meanwhile, the upcoming follow-up to "Ant-Man" will mark the first time that a Marvel film has put a heroine's name in the film's title. The follow-up film was first hinted at in the after-credit scene of the original film, in which a prototype wasp costume was given to Scott Lang’s love interest, Hope Van Dyne, by her father, Hank Pym.

Ant-Man is a fictional superhero in the Marvel comics created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby. Hank Pym is one of the founding members of the Avengers, and he is assisted by his girlfriend, Janet Van Dyne, who is the Wasp in the comic books.

In the film, Hank Pym passes the role of Ant-Man to Scott Lang, while Janet Van Dyne (the Wasp) is presumed dead after going subatomic while on a mission with Pym.

“Ant-Man” is one of this year’s blockbusters, earning USD410 million (AUD 564 million) since its release.
