The filming of the final seven episodes of "Mad Men" Season 7, which is the swansong season, has wrapped up, but the return date has yet to be announced. Jon Hamm, who plays the principal role of Don Draper, has hinted at the possibility of a happy ending for his character in the series finale. Also, he has said that there are surprises in the final seven episodes.

The final season has been split into two halves of seven episodes each. The first half wrapped up in May, with an episode titled "Waterloo." The events in the episode revolved around the first moon landing. Don was on the verge of getting fired from SC&P and his relationship with Megan ended on a silent note. The sudden death of Bert made Roger take the reins in his hands and he sold 51 per cent of his firm's stake to McCann Erickson. This put a brake on Jim's move to close the door on Don and to gain more control of the firm. As part of the merger deal, Don got to keep his job in the firm and the episode ended with Don seeing a vision of Bert singing and dancing, with a group of secretaries.

As Roger is playing the shots, Don's position in the firm is secure in episode 8. The seven episodes of the first half saw Don going through varied emotions and he had to start from the first step, again. It will be interesting to see if Don Draper, the ad man, rises to the top again, or he prefers to fade away. Like always, it is more or less in his hand how he writes his story and how he ends it.

In an interview with Telegraph, Hamm said: "I can't spoil anything, but there are surprises. In the last episode, 'Waterloo', the agency was sold to McCann Erickson; now things are looking up." If he had said more, Matthew Weiner, creator of "Mad Men," would have called him and had given him a good dressing down, as he is not fond of leaking spoilers.

Meanwhile at the The Hollywood Reporter's Drama Actor Roundtable, Hamm teased that his character is going to die.

It is being speculated that the episode 8 of "Mad Men" final season is likely to air in April 2015.
