“Life is good when you play more,” the tagline for the LG V20 reads. And while it is true that the new handheld from LG is full of new features that are focused on content creation, it does fall short on a few key claims.

The new handheld promises an experience full of amazing photos, well-recorded and stable videos, as well as quality musical recording. There is no question where the focus of LG was in the creation of the V20. The mobile device is definitely suited for content creation and personalisation. But while the unit sounds perfect on paper, it does have it setbacks.

The LG V20 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor, which is not the newest in the market, but is still one of the best options available. It also runs on 4GB of RAM and is available with 64GB of internal storage that is still expandable via an SD card in Australia.

For $1,099, users will get to experience Hi-Fi recording with High AOP mic, steady video recording for action videos and wide-angled 16 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front cameras. The LG V20 also boasts of a dual screen feature and a pop-up battery cover.

But as Greenbot notes, the LG V2 display is nothing extraordinary in the current market. While its IPS LCD screen is great, it does not stand out against the AMOLED displays of its competitors. And when it comes to taking photos, the publication claims that the LG device is no match for the likes of the Google Pixel XL, iPhone 7 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S7, all of which take more detailed images.

The LG V20 does, however, carry on its promise of recording in the best sound quality. Its three high AOP microphones deliver on precise audio pickup for both video sounds and recordings.
