Following the footsteps of its rivals in the fast food industry, Burger King has now dropped aerated soda drinks from the kid's menu officially. The decision to regularize the Burger King Kids Meal was made after McDonald's and Wendy made a similar move in 2013 and 2014. respectively, by eliminating soft drinks from their meal for kids.

According to USA Today, Burger King North America President Alex Macedo claimed that the decision has been made by the fast food franchise as a part of their ongoing effort to offer their guests an option that match lifestyle needs. Burger King has made available three other options in lieu of the eliminated option for soft drink—apple juice, fat-free milk or low-fat chocolate milk.

Fast food chains are being continuously pressured by the consumers and activists to make way for healthier options on their menu. Sugary aerated drinks are the leading cause of obesity in children in the U.S., thus leveraging the need to revise the fast food menu for kids.

A similar move has been recently announced by McDonald's yet again in the first week of March where it decided to eliminate the use of human antibiotics-raised chickens in their kitchen over the next two years. In addition, Dunkin' Donuts decided to stop the use of Titanium Dioxide as a whitening agent in the powdered sugar used to garnish its doughnuts.

Even though soft drinks have been dropped-off from the kid's menu, the adults will have an option to avail the drink separately since the drinks have not been eliminated completely from the menu.
