The hints of Hideo Kojima leaving Konami have been making the rounds lately. After plenty of rumours and speculation about the “Metal Gear” creator’s status, Konami has finally answered some of these questions, though their answers may have lead to even more questions from the public about what’s going on between Kojima and the game company.

Konami has been making statements about Kojima through the Japanese “Metal Gear” Twitter. One situation addressed right away was the dissolution of the Kojima Productions brand, to the point that the upcoming “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain” isn’t being called a Hideo Kojima game anymore. The company merely stated that Kojima Productions, along with other internal companies have been changed to move into the corporate headquarters work structure.

“The name and organization has changed, but as before, MGSV: TPP is continuing as a work from director Kojima and the existing team members.” Stated by the Metal Gear Twitter and translated by Kotaku.

It has also been stated that, though the social network account of the “Metal Gear” team has changed, all the original members of the Twitter team are still active in it. The company also stated that they would still like the support of the fans, since the Twitter team hasn’t changed.

Overall reactions to Konami’s statements have been overly negative. A Japanese blog called My News Flash has asked anyone if they honestly believe the statements made by Konami and Kotaku has also offered a few sarcastic side comments regarding the fact that Konami had to assure fans that the Twitter team, of all things, hasn’t changed.

An interview with Japanese game site Game Spark has confirmed that Kojima is still a member of Konami, but it’s currently unknown as to what type of employment he’s under. When asked if the company limits their employees use of the internet, with the company representative somewhat confirming that stating that they want their employees to focus most of their attention to developing games.

With all the talk about Hideo Kojima possibly leaving and the company stating that they would love to make more “Metal Gear” games, it appears that this situation is continuing to get messier. It’s unsure if Kojima plans to leave Konami after “The Phantom Pain,” or if he’ll stop working on “Silent Hills.”
