Key Dates For 2022 MLB Season

By on

Major League Baseball has released its full schedule for the 2022 season. The regular season is set to start on March 31, and it will conclude on Oct. 2.

All 30 teams are scheduled to have the same Opening Day. It would be the first time since 1968 that the entire league plays their first game on the same date.

The New York Yankees are set to open the 2022 season on the road against the Texas Rangers. The Tampa Bay Rays will visit the Boston Red Sox. The Los Angeles Dodgers will host the Colorado Rockies.

The New York Mets and Washington Nationals are scheduled to meet on Opening Day. Their 2021 Opening Day game was postponed because of a COVID-19 outbreak within Washington’s clubhouse.

The Houston Astros will host the Philadelphia Phillies in the lone interleague Opening Day matchup.

The AL East will take on the NL Central in Interleague Play throughout the season. The Yankees will host the Chicago Cubs from June 10-12.

The AL Central faces the NL West, and the AL West takes on the NL East.

April 7 marks the first game between the Yankees and Red Sox. The Dodgers and San Diego Padres start their first series on April 22. Los Angeles and the San Francisco Giants will only play each other twice until June 10.

The Houston Astros and Rays will meet in the final weekend of the season. The Padres and Chicago White Sox are set to face off in another season-ending series that could have playoff implications.

Jackie Robinson Day on April 15 features 15 games. Dodger Stadium will host the 2022 MLB All-Star Game on July 19. That means the Home Run  Derby should take place on Monday, July 18.

Most teams start the second half of the season on July 22.

With the collective bargaining agreement between MLB and the players' association expiring on Dec. 1, there’s a chance that the season won’t start as planned.
