Kate Middleton is set to join a group of students at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London this week for a Sports Aid workshop at the Copper Box arena on Friday, October 18. The event will mark her first official appearance in this capacity as she became patron of the charity in April.

As Sports Aid's patron, The Duchess of Cambridge is helping to shine a light on the achievements and potential of young athletes throughout the UK - an inspiring generation who one day hope to represent the nation at the Olympic or Paralympic Games.

"Sports Aid played an important role when I was starting out so I know what a huge boost this will be to the young sportsmen and women the charity helps today. As patron Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge will give them the profile they deserve," said SportsAid alumnus Sir Chris Hoy during the welcome patronage in a report by www.sportsaid.org.uk.

The 32 year-old Duchess of Cambridge , who is known to be an ardent sportswoman, is patron of charity Sports Aid and will be lending her support to their athletes workshop which will help them reach their potential.

New mother will be joining the athletes and their parents at educational workshops covering everything from dietary advice to media training

During her school days Kate was pretty talented in sports so this event will be nostalgic experience for her as she will be able to watch athletes as they take part in a range of sports including wheelchair basketball, football, volleyball and badminton.

Founded in 1976, Sports Aid claims on its website www.sportsaid.org.uk that it helped around two-thirds of the successful British team at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympic Games at some point during their sports careers.

Kate was at the London Olympics as an official ambassador during the 2012 games, attending 18 events and proved a lucky mascot as Team GB scooped five gold medals, two silver medals and three bronze medals when the Duchess was watching.
