On Wednesday night after her performance on American Idol season 12, Carly Rae Jepsen proudly endorsed good friend and fellow singer Justin Bieber to be the next Idol judge.

"Justin would be awesome," the 27-year old artist told Hollywood Reporter. "He's got lots of great opinions when it comes to the music world and he's very experienced especially for being so young."

The buzz has been getting louder lately that one of America's most successful TV reality-talent shows is going to have a major revamp starting with the axing of all its four current judges.

Bieber's name, together with Selena Gomez, have cropped up in gossip columns as potential replacements as the Idol producers apparently intend to recapture lost glory by catering to the younger audience.

The show has been consistently on a ratings decline the past seasons, with as low as 11 million viewers last month, less than half of what it used to enjoy in the past.

During its peak, Idol would have as much as 30 million viewers for a single episode, in fact, the show's fifth season where Taylor Hicks was proclaimed Idol winner had a staggering 36.4 million viewership.

According to sources, people behind the show feel that Idol has lost its core and they are determined to get it back by enticing the younger crowd.

Jepsen was in Idol to debut her new song "Take a Picture," a song written in collaboration with the viewers of season 12 through the "Perfect Harmony" project of Coca-Cola. The project had eight phases where fans were allowed to contribute to song writing and performance ideas. The final version was delivered by Jepsen on the Fox show Wednesday night.

Being an alum and third placer of the 2007 Canadian Idol, Jepsen had these words for finalists Candice Glover and Kree Harrisson, "read up on the music business and find some good representation."
