Reports claimed that the iPad Mini 2 will arrive before the holidays without Retina Display as the feature will be ready by 2014.

The new information details an iPad Mini with Retina Display will come with an "almost bezel-free," design or 2014, and a slightly updated iPad mini 2 release in time for the holiday shopping season without a Retina Display.

Tech Web site DigiTimes report claims Apple is preparing an iPad mini 2 release for this fall which will bring a thinner, lighter iPad mini with improved specs. If true, this could be the cheaper iPad mini which we've heard multiple analysts predict. It's possible this new iPad mini 2 could push the original device price down to $250.

According to this report, Apple is holding an iPad mini with Retina Display for early 2014. The device would reportedly use the same 2048 x 1536 resolution as the iPad 4 and the rumored iPad 5. DigiTimes claims for the iPad mini with Retina Display,

"Apple is also said to be revising the design of the chassis to give the next-generation iPad mini an almost bezel-free look," DigiTimes stated.

Rumours emerged that the successor of iPad Mini will be released in December after reports claimed that iPad 5 launch is in September.

A report also from Digitimes claims that Apple has still not decided if it wants the next generation model of iPad Mini to feature a Retina display or not. Should it decide to go with the higher-resolution panel, then the device may not be released until the end of the year. The report also stated that Apple is experimenting with iPad Mini designs that feature even slimmer bezels.

This report gives rise to the speculations that Apple will release the iPad Mini 2 by December. This rumour also coincides with previous allegations that Apple is planning separate launches for the two tablets since iPad Mini proved to be more popular than the full-sized iPad.

The company's tablet iPad Mini 2 is speculated to come with Retina Display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536. Other specs include a more powerful dual core A7 processor and a 7.9 inch screen. It will also feature a 10-hour battery life, a FaceTime HD camera, and an iSight camera with 1080 pixels HD video recording. Apple is also trying to reduce the thickness of the iPad Mini 2 by using the Sharp's IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide) technology in its screens.

However, the Cupertino-based company does not confirm nor denied the rumours.
