Time flies so fast and Grey's Anatomy is just about to wrap up season 9 with its second part finale episode "Perfect Storm."

Things can't be more complicated for Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) as she goes into labour while Grey Sloan Memorial is being hit by a super storm.

In the finale sneak peek, Meredith tries hard to do it the natural way but was told there was face presentation and a C-section was in order. To make matters worse, power shuts down on them even before Meredith could argue her case!

"This is not how I wanted to do this," Meredith says as she lies on the operating table.

"You once said that about marrying me," Derek lovingly snaps back.

But soon there was only silence in the operating room. No baby cries and everyone not talking. Is the baby safe or not? Is this a split second moment or someone's in danger? It could go either way. But then as Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes has promised, there's a really nice story for the birth of Derek and Meredith's baby. One source even hints that there should be more worry for the person delivering the baby!

In the official promo of the finale, it says "Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital enters crisis mode as the storm rages, resources become scarce and patients flood in by the busload. Meanwhile, one of the doctors fights for their life." Is this the rumoured explosion that could have something to do with a bus? Someone fights for their life, it's a given that Meredith's baby is in trouble, and one doctor as well, could someone really die?

Rhimes, however, says told TV Guide that things aren't all that bad this season. "There's plenty of jeopardy in the finale, there's a lot of pain, but there's also some joy."

"Unlike some seasons when there was no joy only pain, there is some joy." So safe to say we can we look forward to a feel-good season ender?

"Perfect Storm" airs on May 16, Thursday, on ABC.
