Looks like Hollywood's in for another power couple after Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. George Clooney, the regal 50-year old who has since then maintained his desire to not marry, might be eating up his words after reports have surfaced about his engagement with London's good-looking barrister Amal Amaluddin.

The most sought after Hollywood bachelor is engaged to the hot barrister, as confirmed by Clooney and Amaluddin's family and colleagues.

"You can say I'm extremely happy, Amal's a lovely girl," George's mother Nina Clooney revealed to MailOnline. "I like her very much." Nina further revealed.

Nina Clooney has met the 36-year old human rights lawyer for several times. "We weren't at all surprised when they told us they were engaged, and we couldn't be happier for them."

"On an intellectual level, they are equals. That is very important to him. Amal's world couln't be more different from the Hollywood lifestyle." Nina Clooney further dished on MailOnline.

Meanwhile, Amal's colleagues at the Doughty Street Chambers in London also expressed their delight over the engagement news.

"The barristers and staff of Doughty Street Chambers offer their best wishes and congratulations to Ms. Amal Alamuddin, a member of chambers, and Mr. George Clooney on their engagement to be married," the law firm said in a statement emailed to AFP news agency.

So how did the 236-year old Human Rights lawyer manage to change George Clooney's mind on marriage?

Well, it could be known that Amal Amaluddin is not any typical girl; the Oxford-educated lawyer, who specializes in international law and human rights, has brushed elbows with some of the most powerful and influential men in the world. Amaluddin has advised then secretary-general of United Nations Kofi Annan. Among Amal's clients include big names such as Ukraine's ex-Prime Minister Ylia Tymoshenko and Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.

George Clooney also dabbles in human rights issues - perhaps a point of interest that he has found similar with Amaluddin. Clooney has raised awareness on the humanitarian crisis in Darfur. More importantly, Clooney and Amaluddin have been working on a joint project to raise attention on the Syrian civil war.
