Building a good team is an essential part of “Genshin Impact.” Mixing and matching the right combination of units can make or break the overall game experience because of how elemental reactions work and how damage is calculated against certain enemy types.

Players will naturally build their own roster of heroes over time, but this can take quite a while due to how Primogems and Wishes are earned. This will take even longer for players who prefer not to spend money on the game.

Luckily, there are some good free-to-play options that players can consider using in their main team. Here’s a short overview of the free characters in “Genshin Impact” as well as some other four-star units that are relatively easy to acquire.

Free Unit Selection

Apart from the starting Knights of Favonius team, there are three other characters that players can acquire early in the game: Barbara, Xiangling and Noelle.

Barbara can be acquired as a quest reward upon reaching Adventurer Rank 18, while Xiangling can be acquired after reaching Adventurer Rank 20 and beating Floor 3 Chamber 3 of the Spiral Abyss.

Noelle is technically a free character since she’s a guaranteed drop from the Beginner Banner. Additionally, she appears in character banners ridiculously frequently, making her quite easy to get.

Pyronado DPS Xiangling Team

Xiangling can be used as a very powerful Pyro carry at all stages of the game because of her Elemental Burst, Pyronado. She’s especially good at taking down large bosses like the Cryo Regisvine and a non-Pyro Primo Geovishap. The range of her Pyronado makes her great at taking down large crowds as well.

She can be paired with either Kaeya or Barbara for their respective elemental reactions, boosting Xiangling’s damage even further. Make sure to build around Pyro and reaction damage to maximize her potential.

Superconduct Kaeya Team

Kaeya boasts incredibly high damage scaling numbers on his basic attacks, making him a great candidate for a main DPS carry in a Superconduct team. He can be paired well with Lisa or any other Electro character to constantly proc Superconduct.

Anemo Traveler can help spread Cryo or Electro across all nearby enemies, making the team very efficient against mobs while exploring the open world.

Noelle

Noelle can fit in just about any team. She’s a jack-of-all-trades carry who can heal, shield and deal AoE Geo DMG reliably.

When building a team with Noelle, always consider what her role is going to be, then compensate accordingly. Noelle’s Single-target damage output is her only real weakness, so picking a strong duelist like Kaeya or Phys DMG Geo Traveler might be a good idea.
