“Game of Thrones” season 8 will be the last for the current storyline. Even though some fans and the studio would like for the popular TV series to continue for a few more years, cast member Nikolaj Coster-Waldau feels that this ending is “the right way” to go out.

In an interview with TheWrap, Waldau said that the ending is “a very satisfying feeling.” He explained that there may be financial reasons why HBO would like to see the show continue for another year or two, but that was never the plan of the showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. “It just feels like we go out the right way,” he said.

The ending of the TV series also means that Waldau will miss it. The actor has been a part of the show right from the very first episode, and has been filming with the other cast members every year, making some good friends at the set. However, there is one thing that he will not miss, and that is the armour he has to wear.

The last few seasons of the show have focussed heavily on the war, which even Jaime gets involved in. However, that means that Waldau has to wear his armour for every scene. The actor said that the new costume is beautiful, but very heavy.

There’s more war to come in the finale season. The biggest war yet on the show will be fought between the living and the dead. Jaime was last seen riding north to join Daenerys’ (Emilia Clarke), to keep a promise he had made. But, his sister has refused to join the fight, which means there will be yet another battle to fight after defeating the Night King, if they manage to do it.

“Game of Thrones” season 8 is set to air sometime next year. The producers are yet to announce an exact release date.
