During the epic “Battle of the Bastards” episode of “Game of Thrones,” Ser Davos made an unsettling discovery. He found the wood pile where Shireen was burnt and saw the wooden toy he gave her near the pile. He was not told about what really happened to the girl, and it seems he has figured it out by seeing the remnants of the pile.

With Davos’ realization that Melisandre was the cause of Shireen’s death, it is now a question of what Ser Davos’ and Melisandre’s fates will be. Looking back, Melisandre ordered the little girl’s death by burning her alive as an offering to the Lord of Light. She did this to allegedly increase Stannis’ chances of winning the battle against the Boltons to claim Winterfell, Popsugar reports.

It has been projected in the show before the Davos loved the girl like his own daughter. Chances are he will not take the discovery of her death lightly. In the preview of the season finale, Davos confronts Melisandre and urges her to tell Jon Snow everything.

There are now several speculations on how this story arc goes. The first is that Melisandre will die. One possibility is that Davos may plot to kill Melisandre. He has the motive of revenge. But yet, again, he is known to be honourable, so this might not be the case. However, there is also the possibility that Melisandre will undergo trial and may lead to her execution. During the past episodes it seemed that the priestess was sombre. It was also revealed that she is an extremely old woman. It may be the case that she is ready to go and retire.

Another theory is that Davos will be the one who dies. Although Melisandre has been playing allies with Jon and Davos, she still has a sense of self-preservation. It is known that the priestess does not like being cornered and also protects herself. She can easily kill Davos in a snap of a finger using her magic.

The last possibility is that Davos will leave the camp in disgust of Melisandre. This is highly possible if Jon Snow puts the witch on trial and judges her free from her responsibilities. There is a strong possibility for this because it was Melisandre who resurrected Snow. Hence, he owes her his life, Buddy TV shares.

The finale of “Game of Thrones” Season 6 airs on June 26 on HBO. It also airs on Foxtel in Australia.
