The 1990s was the heyday for fighting and brawling games. This was the decade when the likes of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat emerged as hot commodities. Meanwhile, brawl games like Double Dragon and Urban Champion were played by those who want to beat up someone but without going through legal and physical troubles. Since then, games like these have been neglected. However, Team2Bit tries to revive this genre through Fist Puncher PC game.

Upon looking at the game's graphics, you will feel that you are playing a game that was developed in that decade. The game is rendered in a look that is reminiscent of Famicom or Nintendo NES games but it works just fine. The game's objective is simple: defeat as many villains as you can before reaching the main villain called The Milkman. Throughout this new PC game, you can carry this mission with characters such as a beekeeper, a slingshot-carrying boy, a doctor and a derby lady.

Fist Puncher starts with an introductory level where you can learn how to make your character execute defensive and offensive moves. Perhaps the best move in the game is the defensive roll that will help your player stem the enemy's attack or escape an unfavourable situation. Aside from that, characters can kick, punch, jump and grapple opponents. You should also watch for items that defeated enemies reveal because they can be used as weapons.

The game also has a temporary attack boost called rage and this can be activated if you have collected the four letters that form the word. The damage inflicted during rage mode is increased but this does not come too often. For most of the game, fallen enemies reveal identical letters which makes it a rare occurrence. Thus, it is still best to master your attack combinations and impromptu weapons to advance in Fist Puncher.

After the introductory level, you will be taken to a map where the real game begins. From here, you can access 50 stages through various routes while rescuing beauty pageant winners that have been hostaged by Milkman. The variable routes mean that you can build your own adventure without necessarily going through a linear narrative. You can also go back to the stages that you have already completed to look for more collectibles and hidden characters. Beating up more people can also give you more experience points that you can use to improve your ratings in speed, power and defense to name a few. You can also use these points to activate the character's special moves.

However, the best approach in Fist Puncher is to balance the experience points because of the various challenges that you will face in all 50 stages. It's not enough that the character is just powerful or quick. Rather, all parameters must be improved so that your chances of defeating Milkman go higher. Aside from the main antagonist, you will also face scientists, suicide bombers, and a flock of birds who are united in taking you out.

Despite the variety of opponent, the game's objective is practically the same: use your characters skills or pick up weapons to kill your enemies. With 50 total stages, beating up opponents can be dragging or boring. Also, the stage bosses look like just larger versions of the typical villains and they can re-appear in any stage.

Fist Puncher can be played alone or through cooperative play of up to four people. You and your allies will visit several places such as beaches, slaughter houses, strip clubs and hospitals as you bash your enemies away. Definitely, this game brings back the good old days wherein the way of the fists is king.
