Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran recently made headlines after being spotted taking a break from his busy schedule in Fiji.

The 25-year-old music celebrity was reported to arrive in the popular holiday destination on Tuesday morning. He was believed to have been “whisked to an offshore resort by helicopter,” according to Fiji Sun Online. The site also published a photo of Sheeran being greeted at Island Hoppers at the Nadi International Airport.

Other local media organisations also picked up the story, reporting about the “Thinking Out Loud” singer. Shortly after, the news also trended in social media, making rounds in Facebook and Twitter. However, Sheeran’s much-publicised trip left some people wondering why it became a top trending topic.

Facebook user Dave Jones wrote, “I’ve got a lot of time for Ed but I don’t see why Ed going to Fiji on holiday is top trend on Facebook.” Another, who goes by the name Jamie Tighe, commented, “Facebook is telling me that Ed Sheeran is travelling to Fiji. Are they letting me know he’s left the country or warning the people of Fiji he’s coming to theirs?”

Tilah Haken, on the other hand, shared, “Newsflash: Someone famous goes somewhere nice.” Facebook user Ash Wilde wrote something similar, “Ed Sheeran went to Fiji… Big news that!”

Sia was also reported to be in Fiji, an island country located in the South Pacific Ocean, during the time of Sheeran’s visit. Her fellow Australian, “The Huntsman” actor Chris Hemsworth, also took time to fly to the tourist spot earlier this year.

Over on Twitter, users also had similar reactions.

In December last year, Sheeran announced to his fans that he’s taking a break from social media. “Hello all. I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and social media for a while,” he wrote on his Facebook account. I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last 5 years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I’m taking this opportunity to me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed. To my family and friends, if you love me you will understand me buggering off for a bit, to my fans, the 3rd album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far. See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing.”
