Steven Spielberg's "Extant" starring Halle Berry aired the episode "Ascension" (Season 1 Finale, episode 13) on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014 at 10-11 p.m., ET/PT on the CBS Television Network. Molly Woods (Halle Berry) had to go on a journey back to space to prevent the Seraphim from reaching the world. Read on for the "Extant" Season 1 Finale recap of episode 13 "Ascension" to find out what happened to Molly and company.

"Extant" Season 1, episode 13 "Ascension" was written by Mickey Fisher and directed by Miguel Sapochnik. Here's what happened in this particular episode. Molly decided to become the heroine and opted to go back to space to stop the Seraphim from heading straight to Earth. It has some deadly spores in it that could threaten the existence of the world's population.

In order to protect herself from being confused by the alien visions, Molly had to wear a helmet to distinguish between reality and illusion. When she arrived at the Seraphim, she saw Katie but she realised that this one is not the real Katie because the true Katie is kind while the fake one is cruel.

However, she was still tricked into being trapped in an area of the Seraphim. As for Sean, he ends up hearing voices that the Molly in the Seraphim isn't real.

Molly also got infected while at the Seraphim so she decided to take off her helmet and put Sean in a sealed capsule.

Meanwhile, John found out about what Odin is up to, including using Ethan as a tool to cause mayhem in the world. He wanted to shut Ethan down to check what Odin put in him, but he was conflicted because he did promise Ethan that he would never do that to him.

In the end, Ethan was shut down temporarily and John saw the bomb that Odin implanted. Unfortunately, it is unstable so he has to find a way to save both Ethan and everyone else.

As for the International Space Exploration Agency, or ISEA, it had to shut down upon learning that Molly's "Offspring" is in the premises. It went on to control the minds of the people it came in contact with.

Ethan offered to go into ISEA because he is the only one who can't be controlled by the "Offspring." He was able to override Ben a.k.a. the computer's decision of shutting Seraphim down. He also let the "Offspring" go instead of fighting it. He risked his life to save everyone, including his mother and her "Offspring." Elsewhere, a couple finds the "Offspring" and gives him a ride.
