Digital TV gains strength in Australia
Three in four households said to have digital TVs
The latest TV-conversion figures show that three in four Australian households now have digital televisions.
The findings, which were released by the government's Digital Switchover Taskforce showed that digital television penetration increased during the June quarter because of growth in Sydney and Melbourne.
The highest increase was in Sydney, which jumped 10 points to 71 per cent. Melbourne, on the other hand, added 13 points for 77 per cent penetration.
Australia plans to exclusively switch to digital transmission by 2013. The capital cities will be last to make the switch. In the April-June quarter, digital television penetration increased by six percentage points on the previous quarter.
