The 8th and the final season of Dexter is fast hurtling towards it end - and producer reveal that fans may not love, or even like, the finale much. According to Sara Colleton as told to The Hollywood Reporter, the ending is someting the producer have discussed for years and that she has known about how it wall will go down for about two years now. She also stated that it was their show after all, and the ending has to be in sync with the show as well as the producers' vision for it. She believes that many fans may not be happy with the ending but the finale cannot please everybody - some fans might see it as good justice while some may view it as a great dissapointment - but the show has to end in the same vein it started and continued.

Sara did say that whatever happened in the finale would always generate good and bad press equally, so it's not possible to make Dexter end and keep every fan happy at the same time. She finished by saying that if the producers were happy with the ending, then that was it - that is how the show ends.

So what are fans supposed to think about this statement? Will Deb or Dexter or both die? Sara says it's too early to speculate on that - they should live yes, but it will have to be a wait and watch. The finale is titled "Remember the Monsters" - is this supposed to point fans at Dexter dying and having his life flashback in front of him? Or is he supposed to learn yet another lesson in hubris - his arrogance about him being the bets there is and belaying Trinity's murder led to Rita losing her life and Harrison losing his mother. So is his hesitation in killing Hanna McKay going to cost someone his or her life? We hope it isn't Deb - we pray it isn't Harrison and we definitely do not want it to be Dexter. But is Dexter going to pay with his own life by playing with the rather explosive Zach.

The season 8 may have begun slow but it certainly seems to be headed to a nail biting finish. There is going to be a team of doctors in the penultimate episode, and "The Shield" veteran Kenny Johnson too will play a vital role in the last hours. So frankly, it's still a sitting-on-the-edge feel that fans have - hoping against hope that Dexter survives yet another catastrophe and maybe this time, kill the monster within him forever.
