English actress Claire Foy has won the hearts of television viewers with her critically acclaimed performance in Netflix’s breakout season of “The Crown.” Unfortunately, it seems the upcoming season would be her last appearance in the hit biopic series.

Similar to other “The Crown” cast members, Foy made quite an impression on the small screen for portraying a young Queen Elizabeth II. Playing the role for the entire season’s 10 episodes, Foy stood out with her brilliant characterisation that even earned her a best actress nomination at the 74th Golden Globe Awards.

While she was expectedly ecstatic over this recognition, Foy revealed that her days in “The Crown” are already numbered. “After two seasons, that’s it. I’m gone. They’re getting rid of all of us,” she said in an interview with Vulture. “I don’t how they’re planning on doing it, but they’re such an incredible bunch of directors and producers that it’s gonna be different and exciting.”

Foy further shared that the third season of “The Crown” would be original. “I can’t wait to see where it goes,” she said. “I’m so honored to have been involved at this stage. I couldn’t be happier really. There’ll be no 3 a.m. makeup call for me!”

“The Crown” Season 1, released in November, depicted the life of Queen Elizabeth II from her wedding in 1947 until events occurring in 1955. The successful drama television series, created and written by Peter Morgan, is believed to be Netflix’s most expensive TV series. It was reported that the company spent more than £100 million (AU$160.4 million) on the 10-episode biopic drama.

Netflix content boss Ted Sarandos has earlier been quoted as saying that they’re hoping “The Crown” would run for six seasons. “The idea is to do this over six decades, in six seasons presumably, and make the whole show over eight to 10 years,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

Apart from Foy, actor John Lithgow has also been nominated for a Golden Globe. He’s in the running to win best supporting actor for playing Prime Minister Winston Churchill. “The Crown,” meanwhile, is gunning for the best drama award against a mammoth competitor, “Game of Thrones.”
