A Chinese Kung Fu expert is carving a career with the use of his skills in the ancient Chinese martial art to hurl playing cards like throwing knives.

Twenty-three-year-old Bai Dengchun from Qingdao, northern China's Shandong Province, can throw at such a ferocious force he can carve and slice a cucumber or burst a balloon from a distance up to 16ft away.

At first, Bai's parents just shrug off his unusual talent. They never dreamed that such skills could land Bai a lot on a TV show to highlight his peculiar gift.

In one of the episodes, Bai was shown throwing 28 cards into a watermelon from a distance of 10ft.

Bai said, "The cards are like darts to me. I can precisely hit any target within a five metre radius."

Not surprisingly, Bai developed his talent during tantrums after losing poker games. "When I was young I loved playing poker but I always lost. I would always end up throwing my hand away and eventually I realised I could throw the cards a long way away - and very accurately.

"Three years ago I decided to give up poker and take up throwing cards instead. Each month I used part of my salary to buy cards to practise with and it's paid off."
