Celebrities have knack for creating controversies about their social life, especially when it comes to drugs and booze. However, there are a few Hollywood A-list celebrities that have actually tried and are still on the "medicinal" herb.

Check out a few celebs that are known to have been associated with marijuana, from Rihanna to Kristen Stewart.

"Battleship" star, Rihanna, stirred up a controversy with a photo rolling up a marijuana into a joint during the first week of the Coachella Music and Arts Festival. While this was simply shrugged off by a few fans, some discovered about what the real thing was when Rihanna sent out another tweet with an enormous sized joint. It became convincing since she was with outspoken 'stoners', Warren G and Snoop Dogg in the photo.

"Twilight's" leading lady, Kristen Stewart, also happens to hop on the "Cannabis Express". Having a penchant for spaced-out and half-lidded interviews, it's no wonder Kristen has been known to be a pot-loving celebrity.

In the year 2008, Stewart was snapped 'smoking a bowl' on her front stop with then boyfriend, Michael Angarano. Her love for pot does not simply stop there because in 2009, Kristen flaunted her body in a white bikini stamped with the marijuana-leaf.

Stewart waved her pot flag high when she was snapped smoking a joint with co-star, Robert Pattinson, during their "New Moon" post-filming dinner at Monteplaciano in Italy.

It didn't take much acting skills for James Franco to play the hilarious and adorable pothead in the film, "Pineapple Express". Though the Oscar nominee might have had his shares of pot-fun in the past, James Franco openly admitted he had stopped since high school.

"People think I'm stoned anyway," said James in an interview at the 2009 New Yorker Festival.

"It just stopped being fun. Last time I smoked pot, I was not a fun person to be around." added Franco.

With all the videoslookin g pretty much "stoned" lip-syncing to Selena Gomez and Rihanna's songs, Franco's fans are sure to doubt he has indeed stopped smoking pot.

Former Disney princess, Miley Cyrus, had been in one of the biggest controversies last year when she was snapped taking a lungful of salvia in a leaked video shown by TMZ. The controversies did not stop there when on her 19th birthday celebration, one of her friends, Kelly Osbourne, joked about how Miley smoked "too much f**king weed".

Oscar winner, Natalie Portman, also had a history of being a pothead. The news wasn't as surprising when she came out in SNL's 2006 rap video. Like James Franco, Natalie hasn't smoked pot in years.

"I love stoner comedies. I smoked weed in college, but I haven't smoked in years," said Portman in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"I'm too old. I wish I was that cool, but I'm like an old lady now. I'm in bed by 10 p.m. I can't do that anymore." claims Portman in the same interview.

For the out-of-this-world singer and self-proclaimed monster, Lady Gaga, she admitted she depended on pot for creative juices to start flowing.

"I drink a lot of whiskey and I smoke weed when I write," shared Gaga in an interview on 60 minutes.

"I don't do it a lot because it's not good for my voice. I don't want to encourage kids to do drugs, but... what artists do wrong is they lie, and I don't lie. I'm not a liar. I built good will with my fans. They know who I am. And I'm just like them in so many ways." said the singer.

A few other A-list celebrities who have smoked pot include Mischa Barton from the "O.C.", Charlize Theron, Woody Harrelson and Justin Timberlake. With the new age, it isn't quite surprising to know that celebrities also turn to weed to have a little bit of fun, loosen up and live.
