LG's recent release, the G2, is aimed at running at par with the current smartphones with monstrous specs. Can it really compare to the popular iPhone 5s? Below are the specs and price range for comparison.

Aesthetics and Ergonomics

In terms of design, iPhone 5s looks more sophisticated with a much smaller and slimmer aluminum unibody at a 123.8 x 53.6 x 7.6 mm dimension. G2 is slightly bulkier with a 138.5 x 70.9 x 8.9 mm dimension. Apple's flagship is also significantly lighter at 112g compared to G2 at 142.88g.

G2 might not be at par with iPhone 5s in the beauty department, but, it certainly is distinctive with its uniquely placed snooze and volume buttons cleverly situated on its rear to make it easier to adjust when calling.

Screen and Display

G2 has a considerable larger screen of 5.2 inches as compared to iPhone 5s with only a 4-inch screen. It has a full-HD resolution of 1, 920x1, 080 pixels (424ppi). iPhone 5s only has 640 x 1136 pixels (326ppi).

Performance

G2 is powered by 2.26GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM while iPhone 5s is only run by 1.3GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM. Despite this, iPhone 5s may still run smoother because of its iOS platform. It is easier to close applications with the iOS. Simultaneous running of apps in an Android platform causes lags.

The advantage with an Android OS however is that it is more customizable to meet each user's needs. Moreover, it has over 700, 000 apps available. The iOS may be easier to use, but, critics still favors the Android platform because of its customizability.

Camera

The camera unit of both G2 and iPhone 5s is not as remarkable as that of Lumia 1020's 41MP Pureview camera. But, for casual shooting, G2's 13MP sensor will suffice. This is a little higher than iPhone 5s' 8MP camera.

Battery Life

G2 has a 3,000mAh battery while iPhone 5s only has 1, 560mAh battery. Although G2 has a more power-hungry processor, it still promises 17 hours and 50 minutes of talk time. This is high compared to iPhone 5s' 10 hours of talk time.

Price Range

G2 is cheaper at a price range of $349-$449.95 in contrast to iPhone 5s at a price range of $649-906.29 according to shopbot.com.

The Ultimate Decree

G2 is less elegant but definitely has higher specs than iPhone 5s. So, can it run at par with Apple's flagship? Yes, it's actually better.
