Buzz Over J. Lo's Fake 'Bronx' Fiat Commercial
With everything that's been happening to her, Jennifer Lopez has certainly weathered this rollercoaster of a year fairly well.
Being one of the judges in "American Idol's" highest rated season, People's Most Beautiful Woman for 2011, Glamour's Woman of the Year, breaking off her 7 year marriage, high-status ad campaign with her twins (Emme and Max) -all while being under intense media scrutiny.
Lopez certainly has things figured out and fans can't help but ask how the 42-year-old media mogul does it all? Well, for 1 thing, she hires a lot of help; for another, she doesn't exactly have to be everywhere at once, as her new Fiat commercial shows.
According to The Smoking Gun, the multi hyphenate momma never made the trip from LA to the Bronx. In her Fiat commercial Lopez is shown driving through her old neighbourhood, soaking up the culture from the street break dancers to the graffiti artists.
Lopez opens the commercial saying that these may be just a street for the audience but this street was her playground. However, "Jenny from the block" isn't really the one doing the driving-a body double was sent to do the scenes in New York while Lopez shot her footages in LA.
The two halves of the commercial were then composited to make the final cut. The nifty little trick though, is causing quite an uproar.
Diana Gutierrez, a spokeswoman for Fiat, explains to the New York Post why they chose to do the ad in this way.
"We took the opportunity to film wherever Ms. Lopez was working at the time to accommodate her schedule," Gutierrez said simply.
Fiat which has not released a model in the U.S. in decades is standing by its decision and refuse to comment further on the hubbub the commercial caused.
