“The Big Bang Theory” couple Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) finally had a passionate reunion in Episode 10 of "The Big Bang Theory" Season 9 after breaking up in the previous season finale. And Episode 11, titled "The Opening Night Excitation," will see them having sex.

Before Sheldon and Amy's big relationship milestone, here is a look at some of their most significant moments:

When Sheldon met Amy:

The couple met in Season 3 finale of "The Big Bang Theory," titled “The Lunar Excitation.” Raj (Kunal Nayyar) and Howard (Simon Helberg) signed Sheldon up for online dating as a joke, and the site matched him with Amy Farrah Fowler -- his scientifically chosen partner. A reluctant Sheldon went to meet Amy, but did not take more than a few seconds for Amy to impress him, as she turned out to be like him.

First Date:

Amy and Sheldon started communicating via texts, and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) observed that the two do not spend time together. When Sheldon insisted that both he and Amy are comfortable with their then arrangement, Penny took the blackmail route, threatening to tell his extremely religious mother that he planned to have “children out of wedlock” with Amy. In “The Robotic Manipulation,” Sheldon and Amy went on their first date accompanied by Penny.

First Tiff:

Sheldon and Amy's first disagreement and subsequent break up happened in "The Zazzy Substitution.” They terminated their relationship because Amy called her field of study, neurobiology, superior to his field of study, Applied Physics.

Sheldon initially seemed fine but soon it became clear that he was not fine after the break-up. He adopted 25 cats to fill the void left by Amy. A worried Leonard (Johnny Galecki) called up Sheldon’s mother, and she used reverse psychology to make Sheldon reconcile with Amy.

The Hand Holding Experiment:

In “The Alien Parasite Hypothesis,” Amy met Penny’s former boyfriend, and for the first time, she was sexually aroused. Amy took Sheldon's help to determine what was wrong with her. Sheldon suggested that she may have contracted an alien parasite. Amy soon realised that she cannot have relationship with someone as dumb as Zack. Later, Amy tried to hold Sheldon's hand as an experiment, but she felt "nothing."

First Kiss:

After months of going out, Amy finally made the first move in “The Agreement Dessection,” when she kissed Sheldon for the first time in a drunken state.

Officially “Girlfriend”:

Sheldon first asked Amy to be his girlfriend in “The Flaming Spitton Aquisition.” In this episode, Sheldon showed his human side when he realised that he was jealous and worried about Amy and Stuart (Kevin Sussman) hitting it off. He interrupted their date and asked Amy to be his girlfriend. Later, he made her sign a Relationship Agreement.

“Bad Bad Girl”:

In “The Fish Guts Displacement,” Sheldon had to take care of Amy after she caught flu because of their relationship contract. Later, she tried to dupe him into believing that she still hasn’t recovered, so as to prolong their physical proximity. When Sheldon found out about Amy’s deception, he told her that he was going to spank her as a form of punishment. An excited Amy called herself a “bad bad girl” and encouraged Sheldon to spank her harder. Sheldon missed the sexual innuendo and punished Amy by spanking her.

Happy Valentine's Day:

In "The Tangible Affection Proof,” after spending a lot of time trying to get Amy the perfect Valentine's Day gift, Sheldon finally showed her a form that stated that she was his emergency contact at the University. Amy was deeply touched by this gesture and called it the most romantic thing ever done for her.

Sheldon's First Kiss:

In “The Locomotive Manipulation,” Amy planned a Valentine's Day weekend trip to Napa Valley. She hoped to spend some romantic time with Sheldon on a vintage train. Sheldon, who loves trains, ended up befriending a fellow train enthusiast, and as a result, he ignored Amy. When she complained about that, he accused her of trying to trick him into being romantic. And, in a fit of anger, he said that he would kiss her if that’s what she wanted, and he kissed her. Shedon, however, seemed to enjoy the kiss.

“I Love You Too”:

In “The Prom Equivalency,” Sheldon suffered a panic attack when he saw Amy in her prom dress, looking pretty. Amy thought that Sheldon is having a panic attack at the thought of spending the night with her, and she tried to calm him down, saying she doesn’t expect him to spend the night with her and just wanted to attend the prom. She also tried to confess her feelings, saying it is okay if Sheldon does not say it back. Sheldon stopped Amy from saying the three words by saying, "I love you too." Amy had a panic attack after hearing that.

The Martians:

In "The Colonization Application," Sheldon, who had applied to join Mars One Colony, asked Amy to join him. He admitted that if he were to go to a hostile terrain with no hope of ever returning, there was no one else he’d rather have with him. Amy later suggested that they could procreate on Mars, so that their kids would technically be Martians, which excited Sheldon.

Break-Up:

Amy broke up with Sheldon in "The Big Bang Theory" Season 8 finale, titled "The Commitment Determination.” The closing moments of the episode revealed that Sheldon had procured a ring to put on Amy's finger.

Just Friends:

In "The Platonic Permutation,” the two tried to hang out as friends. They went to the Aquarium on Thanksgiving, and Amy realised that she misses Sheldon and his quirks. And, when Amy offered to become his girlfriend again, Sheldon rejected the offer, saying he wouldn’t be able to get over her again -- if she ever broke up with him again.

Back Again:

"The Earworm Reverberation” saw the reunion of the two love birds, after Sheldon realised he still loved Amy. He gatecrashed her date with Dave (Stephen Merchant) to profess his feelings. Amy and Sheldon end up kissing passionately.

Finally

"The Opening Night Excitation," which airs on Dec. 17 in the U.S., will finally see the two consummate their relationship. According to spoilers, Sheldon will skip the “Star Wars-The Force Awakens” premiere to be with Amy on her birthday.
