Episode 9 of “Better Call Saul” season 4 featured one of the biggest fights between Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) and Kim (Rhea Seehorn). In a recent interview, Writer Gennifer Hutchison shared some insights about that scene and more. The following article contains spoilers from episodes that have already aired.

In an interview with TheHollywoodReporter, Hutchison said that it is left to the interpretation of the viewers on the question of whether or not Kim meant all those things she said in the fight. In the rooftop scene, the character had told Jimmy that it feels like he is always down and she is the only one who drops everything just to be there for him.

The fight was about Jimmy not getting his licence to practice law renewed, which was devastating for him because he was looking forward to taking on some new clients and expanding his business. He got angry after the committee members felt that he was insincere.

Hutchison said that Jimmy is in denial. He is obviously in pain after the death of his brother, but at the moment he doesn’t even want to think about it.

In his pain, and now after this big fight with Kim, Jimmy is bound to make some more mistakes that will accelerate his downfall. The biggest expected decision is him using the name Saul Goodman to continue to work as a lawyer, which will take away the need to wait another year and apply for his licence to be renewed.

Jimmy’s decision to use the name Saul Goodman may happen in the season finale. It remains to be seen how Kim will react to this. Will the two finally split?

The season 4 finale is titled “Winner.” Apart from Jimmy’s story line, the other big part of the episode will be about Lalo (Tony Dalton) looking into the secret operation of Gus (Giancarlo Esposito).
